Kylie was born in 2009 and as we watched her grow, we knew that we should start thinking about her education. We started going to church when I was pregnant with Kylie and we gave our lives to Jesus. It was the best thing we ever did. I didn't want her to get just any education, so we decided to homeschool. For me, it's just too risky to send my children to school for 7 hours a day so someone else can influence them, possibly more than me. Not only do I want to be responsible for teaching them subjects such as Math, English, Social Studies etc.. I also want to make sure they are biblically educated. My children need to know Jesus, and I don't feel they can get that in a public school setting like they can at home.
I started Kylie this last September in Pre-K using MFW (My Father's World) Kindergarten Curriculum.
We are having a lot of fun and learning a lot! When I started her in September, she knew almost all of her alphabet, only knew how to write the letters in her name, and knew only a few letter sounds. Now, five months later, she is sounding out and writing three letter words. She really enjoys and looks forward to our school time everyday. Paul and Hannah (three and two years old) are really benefitting from sitting with us as we learn too! Paul is writing several letters of the alphabet and can write his name. Hannah knows the alphabet song, knows all her colors and can count to 15! I am so thrilled that I can be such a big impact on how and what my children are learning.
I am blessed to be able to plant these seeds in my children's lives and train them up in the way they should go, so when they are older they will not depart from truth. (Proverbs 22:6)
So, here we are 5 months into our first year of home school. We have had some fun and some stressful days. It should be interesting when all four are being homeschooled and have their own work to do, but I'm up for the challenge!
Welcome to the blogging world!
